'This year Los
Belgas are winners of the Best Restaurant Award
for the second year running with Not Just
Deserts winning the hotly contested Best Breakfast
Award ....I would like to thank all the residents
and holiday makers for voting ....as I write this
I am packing my bags ready to fly out to Gran Alacant
and will be interviewing the winners ....so watch
this space ......the Awards night ..sold out in previous
years will also be announced soon...

Alacant Forum Restaurant Awards (and Best Breakfast)
brings us the latest...
'Well we are just
a month away from this years Restuarant Awards to
be held at Los Belgas, this year the Awards night
is raising money for Maureen Keelers cancer sceening
machine at Elche hopital a worthy cause which will
benifit the local residents of Gran Alacant .......Maureen
has raised over 24,000 Euros towards her goal of 30,000
Euros ....a fantasic effort .....I am working on the
details of how to make direct payments into this fund
if you so wish ......I'm also pleased to say that
Maureen will be there on awards night to present one
of the awards.
There will be three
acts performing on the night ...a Beatles tribute,
Rolling Stones tribute, Mr Bojangles and a speech
from me (that should be fun) ...joking aside as you
can see the night is also raising money for a very
worthy cause so if you want to play your part book
soon and buy a raffle ticket from me!!

'Los Belgas were
this years winners on the Gran Alacant Forum Restaurant
Award ...winners for the second year running with
Not Just Deserts winning the Best Breakfast Award.
Alain and Kelly from Los Belgas and Brett and Lee
from Not Just Deserts and all their staff work many
many hours throught the year and the awards are very
much deserved.
This years Awards
night will be held at Los Belgas on Saturday 16th
April and is sold out every year so please book early
.....I have just come off the phone with Maureen Keeler
and this year we will be helping her raise money for
her cancer fund.....so we will be selling tickets
for a prize draw on the awards night ....any other
bar or restaurant who wants to help raise money towards
this night please contact me on the forum or Barry
at the Gran Alacant Advertiser.
I would like to
thank all those who took place in the voting with
the forums getting close to twenty thousand hits ....but
it's not just about who wins.... all those restaurants
nominated are winners here .....give them all a visit!
I would also like

following the awards again this year and also Gran

2010 spoke to Gran Alacant's Website...
'We want to thank
all our voters who once again voted and we promise
that this year will be better than the previous one.
We like to thank all our real customers to
believe in us and all their support they give us last
year. We would also like to thank my colleague
and chef JASON for this wonderful year and ... Yes
we did it again. We like to thank as well
our bar staff for the good work they do, to make our
customers happy.
We not only want
to congratulate Not Just Desserts with their victory
in the Breakfast Award, also Aquarius our friends
and neighbour with the second place in the Breakfast
Award... Congratulations!! Also to all the other nominated
restaurants... Congratulations, and we wish you all
a good 2011 with lot of costumers and fun!!

'Having just finished
a breakfast in one of the favourites for Best Breakfast
Award a couple sat down at the next table to us and
started to discuss the restaurant awards with the
staff, `We have some fantastic restaurants in Gran
Alacant' they said .....butting in (like you do) I
introduced myself as Luton Town from the forum and
that it was I that ran the awards ... and in turn
they introduced themselves as Up The Iron from the
forum .....to cut a long story short they went on
to tell me that when we launched this years awards
on November 4th they had so many favourite restaurants
they just could not make their mind up.....so they
booked a flight out to try their favourites just one
more time before they voted .....for me it just made
everything worth while.
Well I'm not asking
you all to go that far but tune into your local forums
and vote for your favourite ......I know a lot of
these restaurant owners and believe me it matters
to them ...I was speaking to one them last week and
although so far they had just received a few votes
the fact that their customers had cared enough to
vote mattered a great deal to them.
You Have until January
14th 2011 to vote so please log on and vote or join
one of your local forums and vote, details of the
award sponsors and how to join your local forums are
available on this web site.

`Voting for the
third Gran Alacant Restaurant Award started on November
5th and has always been supported by Gran Alacant's
Website. My thanks to Paul.
You can play your
part by logging onto any of the forums in Gran Alacant
all of whom are featured on this website ...as i said
it's the third year we have run the award and each
year it's popularity grows ....over 150 people voted
in just the first few days and voters will be able
to play their part up until 14th Jan.
This year local
businesses have been coming forward to sponsor the
Award by donating prizes towards the presentation
night and also by supporting the award whenever they
can. G.A Homefinders one of our local estate agents,
Grannet one of our local T.V and internet providers
and the local website mygranalacant.com are all playing
their part as well as the Gran Alacant Advertiser
and I hope to have a few more on board in the next
few days.
I update the voting
every day on the forums where you can vote for"
Best Restaurant" and "Best Breakfast"
and there has been some fantastic reviews so far so
please log on and read them.
I think you will
agree we have some fantastic restaurants in Gran Alacant
so please log on and give your favorite your vote.
I will also give you another update in the next few
weeks on Gran Alacant's Website.

2010 - Luton kicks off Gran Alacant's Third Annual
Restaurant Award
`The third Annual
Restaurant Award starts today ....each member has
two votes as in previous years ...one for them and
one for their spouse.
This is our chance
to say thank you to the guys who have worked so hard
over the last year so please keep it positive as we
have done in previous years.
Tell us what you
like about your choice ...because many people read
these reviews and even though your choice may not
win other members will give your choice a visit and
this can only help these guys through the winter.
The voting as in
other years will take place on all the forums so if
you are a member of more than one forum please DO
NOT vote on more than one of the forums.
